Benissa is one of the oldest and prettiest of the inland towns of the area.   In the late 1980's and 1990's the local authorities started to rescue the historical part of the town from gradual decay.   They did a magnificent job in restoring the town's splendid 17th and 18th centry town houses, so taking a stroll around Benissa's prefectly conserved Historic centre is a pleasure.  Ironwork balconies and heraldic shields decorate the historic buildings.  The Parish church shining in the centre of the town, the Town Hall, the old Council rooms, the house of Juan Vines and the Franciscan Monastery are all worth a look.   The lovely tree lined Square and area around the majestic Church play host to the Market and many local activities for both children and adults alike.

Benissa is located 4kms inland from the most beautiful coastline with fantastic coastal walking paths and the lovely Cala de la Fustera with is large car park, sandy beaches and Beach Bar (during the season)

Market Day Saturday morning.
