You cannot visit the area without a trip to the Jalon and Orba Valley areas, to enjoy the atmosphere, peace, tranquility and views of the Spanish towns.

The main town of Jalon is one of the prime producers of the Jalon grape and wine. Take a trip to the ‘bodega’ for a tour of how the wines are produced and some tasting at the end. With all the towns and villages, it is worth parking the car and taking a walk around. In some cases you can take the challenge of finding the local bakery and newsagent, who could still work from their front room as they have for a number of years and family generations. Each town or village has its own character and style, which must be seen to be appreciated.

Orba ValleyFields of vines extend as far as the eye can see, broken here and there by a field of almond trees which in the month of February, blossom to form a carpet of pink and white - quite a breathtaking sight!

On Saturday mornings the town comes alive with visitors and locals who are all out for a bargain at the now famous Jalon antique and flea market. Well worth a visit to browse and buy. Tuesday is the main market day.

Close by is the village of Lliber, worth a visit, especially when they are holding the medieval festival. The town square is filled with stalls advertising their handmade wares, entertainment and music. Still a very traditional village, with a single road for traffic to pass through.

Property in the Jalon and Orba Valleys is wide ranging. In the villages you will tend to find the more traditional apartments and townhouses, along with a few newly constructed modern styles. Just out of the villages property changes and you can usually find a good selection of bungalows, villas and fincas. Whether your choice is peace and tranquility amongst the countryside in a spacious finca with plenty of land, or in the hustle and bustle of village life, you can be sure that we can help you along.

Jalon Valley and BlossomOrba can be found some 18km from the Mediterranean coast of Denia. Situated at the head of a large fertile valley, for many years this area has been mainly agricultural, with the main source of income from citrus fruits and almonds. The other source of employment is the local handbag factory.

Over the years a number of urbanizations have appeared in the area, blending with the picturesque mountains and magnificent views. Like most Spanish towns and villages, Orba has its share of historical interests, all of which are worth a visit. “La Cruz Floral”, the ruins of the 13th century castle. The church situated in the plaza was built on the site of an old mosque. The church isn’t that impressive looking from the outside, but inside is a delight. One must keep an eye open to gaze at the ceramic motifs of saints upon the walls, which are the most extensive, complete and ancient in the whole of the Marina Alta.

In general if you are looking to live away from the coast then this could be the area for you. Peace and tranquility on your doorstep with small town and village life available at whim.
