Although not the largest, Javea is one of the larger towns in the Marina Alta area. It is quite unique in that it is spread into three distinct areas, the ‘Arenal’ beach area, the port ‘Aduanas de Mar’ and the ‘Old Town’. In nearly all areas you will notice that a variety of villas and apartments have been built during the past decade, which has turned Javea into a very multicultural town, where all nationalities enjoy life together.
During the summer months it is a hive of excitement and its population swells with tourists and Spanish alike. Javea is one of the many costal areas that the Spanish like to visit for their summer holidays. As the late autumn evenings cool, Javea becomes calm and life takes on a gentler pace.
Its coastline is broken up with small coves and beaches. "Ambolo" - a nudist beach - and "Granadella" - a paradise for snorkelling. With Javea protected by the "Montgo" mountain, the winter months are mild and the summers not too hot. The old town offers a number of narrow streets that hide a wealth of architecture with arched entrances, large gothic windows and beautiful wrought iron grilles. Small shops hidden away from the glare of the sun, with interiors cool and inviting as you enter. In this area the property is mainly large older style apartments and townhouses, walking distance to all amenities.
All areas of Javea are full with shops, restaurants and bars. Whether you stop for a while along the front to relax with sangria and enjoy the view, or in a side street with a coffee taking a break from the shopping, you will see plenty of life. Whichever area you choose to live in, we can offer you a wide selection of property to suit your needs.
On the outskirts of Javea you will find a very popular Golf Club with 9 holes. Club and trolley rental are available. After playing you can enjoy the delights of the club house and popular restaurant.
Market day is Thursday, with the market being held on the edge of the old town. A mixture of fruit and vegetables, along with clothes, trinkets, handbags and a selection of gift items. Even if you don’t want to buy, pay a visit just to appreciate the atmosphere and see the sellers in action.
Like property in most Spanish towns, you will find mainly apartments and townhouses close to the beach and within the main town. However, in Javea there are also a number of bungalows and small villas within a short distance of beach. On the outskirts of the town, you will find the larger bungalows and villas. Close enough to reach amenities without too much stress, but enjoying the peace and tranquility.
