Situated midway between Alicante and Valencia on the Costa Blanca coast, CALPE is within easy access to both Alicante and Valencia airports and is a popular holiday destination for Spanish and international guests.
In the shadow of the rock nestles the Port of Calpe with its mixture of boats for all purposes. The picture is complete with a large array of fish restaurants each displaying the day's catch. Free sangria and tapas are offered to entice the local and holiday-makers to sit and take their fill in the 'al fresco' European style of eating.
Calpe has some of the best sandy beaches in the area, with a special mention being given to the "Playa de la Fossa" and "Playa de Levante" more than a kilometre long. Market day is Saturday when you can wander through the streets towards the old town and browse the stalls, everything is available from fresh fruit and vegetables, to clothing, homewares, shoes and bags.
In the old town, you are met with narrow windy streets, full of history and interest. Calpe offers you an exciting and relaxing holiday destination.
Festival time is an event not to be missed, with the locals proudly parading in their colourful costumes, the local bands adding vibrant music to the atmosphere. Be sure to visit during this occasion, it is well worth it.
