Non Resident Tax Declarationblog image

Its that time of year again as the year ends, when all non residents who own property in Spain submit their annual tax declaration.

The declaration to the Spanish tax authorities is due by 31 December 2017.   Anyone who lives less than 183 days a year in Spain is classed as being non resident for tax purposes.   These are property taxes, known as IBI (impuestos Sobre Bienes Inmeubles) and calculated income tax or rental tax of a combination of both.

IBI is an annual property tax which is based on rateable value or catastral value.   As property owners you will be liable to pay rubbish collection tax to your Town Hall  and in many cases could accrue a debt if these are not being paid.
