This Saturday the long-awaited alternative transport service to the well-known Cala Granadella, a corner of the Xàbia coast that faces overcrowding problems every summer due to the limited capacity of its parking area.

Since yesterday, June 14, residents and visitors can move around the tourist trenet, which departs from the parking lot in the La Guardia Park residential area. This municipal initiative, which has already been implemented in previous summers, aims to reduce traffic pressure in the area and preserve the cove's natural surroundings.

Price and schedules

Using the train, which takes you right to the beach without having to look for parking, costs €5 per adult (round trip) and €2,50 for children, if the access control barrier hasn't already been lowered.

As for approximate schedules, departures are frequent both from the parking lot and from Cala de Granadella throughout the day. The service starts at 9:00 a.m. from the La Guardia Park development, with the last outbound trip to La Cala at 19:20 p.m. However, to go up from La Cala, the first trip will be at 9:25 a.m. and the last at 19:45 p.m.

The estimated journey time is approximately 20 minutes. The train service will operate daily—Monday through Sunday—until mid-September, and will then operate on weekends until the October long weekend.

This little train has become a practical and sustainable alternative for those who want to enjoy one of Xàbia's most iconic spots without contributing to traffic jams.

It should be noted that the access control service has also begun along with the launch of this service. Although the tender for the service was unsuccessful, Town Hall has avoided the saturation of these days with the beginning of the summer season by hiring a security company that provides service both in the Cala Granadella as in Barraca or Portitxol.
